An Analysis on Determinats of the Medical Care Expenditure



Abstract
The result of Multiple Regression Analysis, referring mainly the result of survey for national medical expenditure executed in August 1973, of the Correlations between medical expenditure (Dependent Variable and diverse factor (Independent Variable)-age, education, monthly income, occupation, marital status and religion-was as follows.
1. The most high simple correlation coefficient between medical expenditure and selected variable in urban area was 0.126 of education while that of rural area was 0.229 of monthly income.
2. Arranging multiple correlation coefficient (¥â) according to highness, the order of urban area was education, monthly income, religion, age and that of rural area was monthly income, religion, education, age.
3. Percent Variable Explained Medical expenditure of elected variables was 21.9 per cent in the total age. That of age group above 20 in rural area was 22.3 per cent, and 25.0 per cent in urban area.
4. The significant variables which effect to the medical expenditure were age, education, income and religion in urban area, while only monthly income was significantly effected in rural area.
